Hannah - Introduction

Hi. My name is Hannah. This is our 2nd blog post.  I'm eleven years old, like my brother said in his post.  Some of my hobbies are sewing, origami, finger weaving, duct-tape, and READING!!!  Some of my favorite book series are Percy Jackson, The Kane Chronicles, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Dork Diaries, 39 Clues, the Titanic Series, and The Familiars.  When my parents introduce us to some of their old friends, the first thing they say to me when my brothers and sister and I walk in is "You must be the oldest." And their thoughts are "She must be 13 or 14" because I'm really tall for my age and I wear women's size 12 tennis shoes.  This kind of thing drives my older brother nuts because he is "average" size as he says.

The first paragraph was about me and this one is about what I'm going to do in Haiti.  On the OMS compound (where I am going to be living) there is a gift shop where I will be working.  This gift shop is more important than one would think.  The visiting teams, that only stay for a short period, are so busy doing mission work that they don't have enough time to go out and by souveneirs so some people on the compound go and buy art work to put in the gift shop.  The people who made the art work get money from it and that money puts food onto their table at home and that money feeds their family.  So my job will be to tell one of the people in charge if we need to restock the shelves if they are emptying out, keep the shelves orginized, and I might help with a little pricing and cleaning.
